I give my support to soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

It must be difficult dealing with the stigma of mental illness tied with findings of PTSD veterans three times more likely to be ’wife bashing rapists’ (as incited in the article). <-This stigma is stupid.

Firstly, the results of the study are based off the assumption that the soldiers had PTSD and not some other kind of mental illnesses. Misleading if you ask me.

Secondly, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that victims of rape, bullying and other traumatic events may develop, just like soldiers who have fought in a war. I was sexually assaulted as a child and despite developing PTSD I’ve never sexually assaulted myself.

Just because a soldier has post traumatic stress disorder or borderline personality disorder or even sociopathy - it doesn’t make them a bad person who goes around hurting and raping other people.

It makes them a person with something going on in their brain and they are unwell, not evil.

PTSD is a very difficult mental illness to cope with and strong stigma against mental illnesses can make it more difficult for people with them to recover and get better or even to seek help from a Psychologist.
